 Rakhandar

Rakhandar means a protector or guardian. Who protect the village and villagers. People believe that Rakhandar is protector God who takes care of a place, like a village, temple, or peoples of village 

Many villages in Goa have a Rakhandar, and people pray to him for safety and good luck. There is no big temples for every Rakhandar but some of have big temples like Bodgeshwar but some temples are very small and have only stone statues of their Rakhandar.  where people go to pray and use to blow lamp ( Divo - use to blow with oil and cotton ) , offer flowers and one type of shawl ( Kamal ) .

Rakhandar does not have a big temple like other gods but some have , and  people respect and trust him a lot. They believe that Rakhandar protects them from bad things and keeps their village, house, place, and villagers safe 



GADA DEV 

Gadadev Temple, Ponda, Goa    

Gadadev Temple is a famous temple in Ponda, Goa. People pray to Lord Gadadev here. This temple is very old, and many people have been coming here for years to pray for good luck and stay protected .

The temple looks very beautiful with nice carvings. It is surrounded by trees, so it feels calm and peaceful. Inside, there is a main prayer area, a hall, and an open space where festivals happen.

The biggest festival here is the Jatra, where many people come to pray and celebrate. People offers Banana, Bell ( bell made of copper), shawl ( Kamal ). Gada dev never sleeps he always working for protect the village and people.

2401038 - Behind the scenes

 Rakhandar . In Goan folklore, a "Rakhandar" or "Rakhno" is a protective spirit believed to guard villages, fields, and crossroads, often depicted as a giant wearing a white dhoti with a bamboo stick. They are seen as protectors against evil spirits and are offered local items like roosters, liquor, and beedis.  There the announcement made us lot proud about the work we were heading towards , it already gave us great experience since first day when we started the proceedings of work with our team . We were 5 members heading towards this project , we had divided the work into 5 parts where gathering information, making up script , shooting the video , editing the video and adding the correct information to the dst.  We started with the work very prior to the submission date . As the places we selected for dst were Katamgal Dada ( Farmagudi Ponda Goa ) , Zareshwar Maharaj ( Ponda Goa ) and Gada Dev (Dhavlim Ponda Goa) which were all from Ponda it was my first concern...
